More from a fantastic performance by John Nemeth and his band at The Palladium Theatre in St. Pete, FL, back in November 2018. In addition to John, we have Matthew Wilson on guitar & vocals, Danny Banks on drums & vocals, and Willie G. Stephens on keyboards & vocals. Blues In My Heart really shows the deep passionate blues this band can dig down and do. Matthew Wilson really shows some great blues guitar work in this track. Bill Wharton – The Sauce Boss….Bill is an amazing performer playing down and gritty blues, while with the help of the audience, cooking some great gumbo – which we share and eat at the show’s conclusion – his shows are really what it’s all about !! Bill is on the road, heading west. For his schedule and info visit – www.sauceboss.com
The Rockin’ Jake Band from Florida’s east coast turned it up a notch at The Bank & Blues in Daytona Beach on September 15th. Their set features many originals and covers of Blues classics. This original – ‘Waves of Sadness’ is one of my favorites. The band is Rockin Jake on vocals and harmonica, Rich Conklin on drums, Charles Gasper on bass, and Steve Laudicina on guitar. These guys are constantly on the road so it shouldn’t be hard to catch them. For tour and band info – www.rockinjake.com
It was a great night in Medford, Ma. last Saturday night. It was the first day pandemic restrictions in Mass. were lifted and BluesArchive.org was there to celebrate and document a wonderful night of blues with Luther ‘Guitar Junior’ Johnson. Luther and his band The Magic Rockers gave us two+ hours of down home Chicago Blues. This track, the last before the break, is a cool rendition of the Joe Turner classic Flip, Flop, & Fly. The venue, The Porch Southern Fare & Juke Joint made us feel right at home with great food and a cool staff. Opening for Luther was NH. IBC winners, Frankie Boy & The Blues Express. Look for their video here as well. Luther will be spending the remaining summer months doing shows in New England, the back to Florida for the winter.
Blues & Boogie Woogie piano legend Mitch Woods in New Orleans.! Mitch was playing upright piano at The Bywater Bakery, joined by my Blues Odyssey 2019 partner, T-Bone Hamilton from St. Pete, FL. on bass. Mitch & T-Bone played a nice set for the Friday morning patrons and staff, continuing their set with ‘Rockin Pneumonia’ – enjoy !!
